RICHMOND, Va. - The men and women's tennis teams have their pairings set for the Virginia
529 College Savings Plan CAA Tennis Championships,
which will be held April 21-24 at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center on
the campus of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va. The 8th-seeded men's team will battle #9 Drexel in the first match Thursday morning at 9:00 am and the women seeded 11 will be paired against #6 Delaware at 2:30 pm.
The men finished their season with an overall 10-10 record, 2-3 in conference. Mason defeated Drexel on April 9 in a close 4-3 match in Philadelphia. The Patriot women ended the regular season 18-14, 0-6. The team lost to Delaware on April 10th 6-1.
The men's championship includes pairing of #7
Delaware against #10 Hofstra at 11:30 a.m. In quarterfinal action on
Friday, #4 William & Mary takes on #5 Old Dominion at 8:30 a.m.,
followed by #1 VCU against the Mason/Drexel winner at 11 a.m. The
afternoon session begins with #2 Georgia State facing the
Delaware/Hofstra winner at 1:30 p.m. followed by #3 UNC Wilmington
versus #6 James Madison at 4 p.m.
The women's championship also begins on Thursday morning with #8
Towson taking on #9 Drexel at 9 a.m., followed by #7 James Madison
against #10 Hofstra at 11:30 a.m. In quarterfinal play on Friday, #4 UNC Wilmington meets
#5 Old Dominion at 8:30 a.m., followed by #1 William & Mary against
the Towson/Drexel winner at 11 a.m. In the afternoon session, #2 VCU
faces the James Madison/Hofstra winner at 1:30 p.m. followed by #3
Georgia State against the Delaware/George Mason winner at 4 p.m.
The two women's semifinal matches will be played at 10 a.m. on
Saturday and the CAA women's championship match will get underway at 10
a.m. on Sunday.
