NORFOLK, Va. -
A
late surge by the George Mason lacrosse team was not enough Sunday afternoon as
the Patriots dropped a 10-9 Colonial Athletic Association decision at Old
Dominion. Allie Hilderbrandt
scored her fourth goal of the contest to bring Mason
to within one with time to play, but the Lady Monarchs held the visiting

(2-8, 1-1 CAA) opened the second half with three unanswered tallies to take a
9-6 lead. Mason (3-9, 0-3 CAA) scored three of the next four goals, but Rebecca
Hartrum's assisted shot from Emma Kriss at 6:47 was enough to seal the victory
for the Lady Monarchs.
Mason and ODU traded the first four goals to open the
contest before senior Amy Yatsuk
converted a free position attempt to give the
Patriots a 3-2 lead with 24:04 to play. The Lady Monarchs answered with three
of the next four scores as Anna Kopecka
recorded Mason's final two goals of the
period for a 6-6 tie.

half to seal the win. Emily Austerberry opened ODU's offense with a tally seven
minutes into the frame before Hartrum scored twice within a minute for the 9-6
ODU lead. Mason attacked its deficit, cutting the score to 9-8 on goals from Hilderbrandt
and Caitlin Formato
, but Hartrum's goal at 6:47 sealed the game for ODU.
