Rachaunn Ruffin
and Dwight Webley
posted NCAA Regional
qualifying marks on Friday afternoon as the Patriots competed at both the
Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla. and the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg,
Va.
In Florida, Ruffin ran a time of 21.30 in the 200-meter
invitational, finishing 15th
in the event. That time was fast enough
to qualify for the NCAA East Regional. Ruffin also qualified for the IC4A
Championships in the 200m as well as the 100 meters, as he ran a 10.65 in that
event, good for 16th
place. Webley, meanwhile, jumped 7.34 in the
long jump, finishing 8th
and qualifying for both the NCAA Regionals
and the IC4As.
Also at the Florida Relays, David Verburg
and Ja-Vell
Bullard ran the 400 meters in 47.97 and 48.04, respectively. Both qualified for
the IC4A meet.
At William & Mary, Tyler Golden
ran the 800 meters in
1:51.76, finishing eighth and qualifying for the IC4A Championships. Other
strong finishes for the Patriots at the Colonial Relays were Anthony LaMastro,
who was 10th
in the 1500 meters, and Amanda Denger
, who was 15th
in the 100-meter hurdles and qualified for the finals in the event.
