The George Mason women's rowing team continues spring
competition traveling to the 'City of Brotherly
Love' on Saturday to take part in the 29th
Annual
Murphy Cup Regatta. The second-largest intercollegiate regatta is hosted by Temple University
on the Schuylkill
River. This year, the
Murphy Cup features competitors from 42 colleges, 33 cities and 10 states. Mason
will race four boats on Saturday, two novice and two varsity. The races begin
at 9:00 a.m. with the women's novice 8 heat, which will also kick off the
finals at approximately 2:36 p.m.
Three boats competed for the Patriots last year at the
Murphy Cup. Mason's varsity 8 boat finished third in its heat, while its second
varsity 8 boat finished fourth and its varsity 4 boat finished fourth in their
respective heats. Bucknell returns this year to defend its 2010 women's varsity
8 first-place finish.
