The George Mason baseball team never got its offense going on Wednesday at N.C. State and the Wolfpack were able to put runs on the board in each of the first five innings as the Patriots fell on the road, 9-1. Mason managed just three hits in the game but junior Brig Tison got one of them, extending his hitting streak to 14 straight games.

The Wolfpack (10-7) used a single, a walk and a single to load the bases in the first and Harold Riggins walked to make it 1-0. Brett Williams' fielder's choice made it a two-run game. In the second, John Gianis singled, Andrew Ciencin drew a two-out walk and Pratt Maynard singled to make it 4-0. In the third, Riggins led off with a walk, went to second on a Danny Canela single and scored on a Cameron Conner base hit. In the fourth, the lead grew to 7-0 when Ciencin drew a walk and with two outs, Riggins doubled. Riggins later scored on a Chris Schaeffer single. In the fifth, the Woldpack increased the lead when Connor led off with a double, went to third on a Ciencin grounder and scored on a Maynard single.

Mason's lone run came in the sixth when Tison singled with one out and scored on a Blaise Fernandez double to deep right. That was the end of the day for N.C. State starter Rob Chamra who went five and one-third innings in his first start for the Wolfpack. He allowed three hits and two walks while striking out four. Three relievers came on to get the final 11 outs. Mason (9-8-1) tried to mount rallies in the seventh and eighth but both times double plays ended the threat.

The Patriots will return to action this weekend when they play at William & Mary with Friday's game scheduled for a 7 p.m. first pitch.
