Hilton Head, S.C.--
The George Mason women's tennis team four match winning streak came to an end Tuesday as they lost to the Racers of Murray State 1-6.
"Our team fought hard, but several unforunate line calls didn't go our
way," commented Head Coach Steve Curtis. "I was proud of my team for
their behavior and attitude under some very ugly conditions."
Mason fell short by losing two of the doubles by close scores. The Patriots then were only able to win one of the singles matches as Lindsay Gray defeated Ashley Canty at number 2 singles. Kiersten Pappas fought valiantly in her singles return after some injury issues forced her out of day one, but fell short in the third set tie-breaker. Brooke Blackwell also came up a couple of points short as she lost in the decisive tie-breaker as well.
Mason falls to 13-8 on the season. The Patriots look to start a new streak on Friday as they play a double header against Concordia (IL) in the morning match and then end their spring break by playing Southern Illinois in the evening match.
