Five George Mason track and field athletes were named
First-Team All-American on Monday as Chris Carrington
was honored for his
performance in the 800 meters and Ja-Vell Bullard
, Adrian Vaughn
, Nick Vaughn
and David Verburg
received the award for their performance in the 4X400-meter
relay.
Carrington, a sophomore from Monticello, N.Y., was sixth in
the 800 meters at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships held in College
Station, Texas on Friday and Saturday. He finished the season with the
fourth-fastest time in the nation in the indoor season.
Bullard, a junior from Hampton, Va., Adrian Vaughn
, a
freshman from Vienna, Va., Nick Vaughn
, a junior from Vienna, Va., and Verburg,
a sophomore from Lyncburg, Va., were sixth in the 4X400-meter relay, the
second-straight season the Mason 4X400 team was named All-American. Bullard,
Nick Vaughn
and Verburg were part of last year's squad.
With the indoor season complete, the Patriots now set their
sights on the outdoor season. The first meet of the outdoor season is this
weekend as the Patriot compete at the Coastal Carolina Shamrock Invitational
this Thursday through Saturday. The 4X400 team was Honorable Mention All-American
in last year's outdoor season.
