--The George Mason Women's Tennis team completed a weekend sweep after defeating the Terriers of St. Francis (NY), winning by a score of 5-0 in a 4-1 format. This came just a day after the Patriots handed Lehigh University their sixth straight loss.
It was a weekend that saw senior captain
Lindsay Gray return to her
home town of Bethlehem, Pa., as she led the Patriots to consecutive victories as a team, along with consecutive doubles wins and a singles win individually. Gray, along with her doubles partner,
Kiersten Pappas combined for another dominant win today by a score of 6-0, 6-1.
The highlight of today's match was
Brooke Blackwell completing a "golden set" by not losing
a single point in her first set of the match. After accomplishing this tremendous feat, Blackwell stayed consistent and did not lose a single game in her match posting two 6-0, 6-0 sets.
Alison Wingo and
Ashley Delaney also dominated their singles matches by posting 6-0, 6-0 victories as well. Yasmin Fotovat won her singles match by default.
The Patriots move to 11-7 on the season. The team is back action during
spring break in Hilton Head, S.C. They will face Southern
Illinois, Savannah State, and Siena.
