The Patriots men's tennis team hosted Hofstra on Sunday, defeating the Pride 5-2 in CAA action. Mason improved to 2-5 on the season.
Mason opened the match winning two of the three doubles matches for the point. The Green and Gold's top two teams won close matches. Jorge Osuna and Taylor Sargent defeated the Pride team of Chris Damion/Pena, 8-6 and Kevin McMillen and Chris Borden defeated the team of Thompson-Star/Disley, 8-5.
Mason won four of the six singles matches, picking up wins at Nos. 1,3,4 and 6. Top singles player Osuna defeated Damion, 6-3, 6-1. The remaining three points were picked up by Mason newcomers. Fresman Jordan Borsanyi won at #3 in three sets,
6-1,
4-6, 6-3. Taylor Sargent won at #4 singles in a closely contested match, 7-5, 7-5. Chris Borden rounded out the points with a
6-1,
6-4 win against Hofstra's
Jason Sinkoff.
The Patriots travel to Bethlehem, Pa. for two matches this weekend against Lehigh on Friday and St. Francis (NY) on Saturday.
