Montclair, Va.
--The Mason women's tennis team suffered their second straight loss this afternoon as they lost to CAA foe Hofstra. The Patriots opened against the Pride by winning two of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Mason then went into singles without top player Kiersten Pappas, who could not continue due to injury, and could not come up with another point falling 1-6.
"It was not a good weekend in the win column but I hope we learn from our losses both individually and as a team", stated Coach Curtis. "This was disappointing conference loss, I expected more from me and my team."
Despite her injury, Pappas and her doubles partner, Lindsay Gray, continued their doubles dominance beating Hofstra's Elena Ivonova and Brooke Sailer. Mason's other doubles win came from the further developing freshmen dynamic duo, Yasmin Fotovat and Ashley Delaney, handedly winning their match 8-2.
The Patriots drop to 9-7 on the season. The team returns to action next weekend as they travel to Bethlehem, Pa., to play Lehigh and St. Francis (NY) on Friday and Saturday.
