Wrestling kicked off their season on Sunday with against some very tough competition in the Hokie Open in Salem, Virginia.  Mason was able to place redshirt senior captain Frankie McLaughlin IV fifth overall in the 174 pound weight class.  McLaughlin finished with an overall record of 5-2 in the competition.

"Guys wrestled hard which was pleasing," said Head Coach Joe Russell.   "We have lots to work on but having this tournament under our belt will hopefully cause a sense of urgency for the team to work diligently to close the gap with the competition. We need to continue moving forward."

Mason will begin conference play next Saturday against Binghamton at 4pm.
