Wrestling will make their way to Annapolis, Maryland this weekend
to wrestle in the Navy Classic Open, hosted by the Naval Academy. This will be Mason's third open tournament of
the young season and Head Coach Joe Russell is pleased with the progress his
team has made so far in his first season.
"Our guys will need to be ready to compete because we will be
facing very tough competition," said Russell.
"We will be given a team score in this event so it will be nice to see
exactly how well we stack up against the opposing teams."
Mason will face off against six teams (Navy, Bucknell, The Citadel, Franklin & Marshall, West Virginia and Gardner Webb) in this open, which is scheduled to begin at 10am. Fans may park at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium for $5 and take a shuttle bus to the Academy. Buses will run every 15 minutes starting one hour before each match and will continue running throughout the event.
"Hopefully some of the guys will have family members that
can come out and support them since we will be pretty close to home," reflected
Russell. "I'm just excited for the guys
to have another opportunity this weekend to show off how hard they are working
and how much they are improving each week."
