POWELLS POINT, NC--The Mason Golf team earned a tenth place finish at the second annual ODU/Outerbanks Collegiate as play concluded today in the three-round tournament. The Patriots shot a nine-over par today and finished three strokes behind Maryland and James Madison.
Mason's Kevin Yerks led the way with a one-over par 217 (72-70-75) three-round score and finished tied for 15th overall at the par 72, 6535 yard Kilmarlic golf course. Alex Kormanec carded an even par 72 in the final round, the best Patriots score in the round. Junior Casey Thompson shot two-over par 74 today to finish tied for 33rd (75-72-74=221). Senior Josh Apple finished tied for 48th with Kormanec with a three-round 225 (75-74-76).
T.J. Mitchell of Georgia won the individual medalist honors after shooting 67 in the final round to finish at 201, two strokes better than Robert Karlsson of Liberty. Georgia and Liberty both placed three players in the top ten.
Mason has concluded their fall season and will return to action in the spring.
