Rowing Set to Compete in 47th Head of the Charles

The George Mason rowing team, coming off a strong performance at the Occoquan Chase over the weekend, will be one of 27 teams competing in the Club 8 at the 47th Annual Head of the Charles Regatta on Saturday, October 22.

The Patriots will race one boat in the Club 8, which begins at 1:26 p.m. Mason will race against such teams as Alabama, Boston College, Connecticut, Emory, Miami, Northeastern, Radcliff, Tennessee and Yale.

The Head of the Charles began in 1965 and has grown to become the world's largest two-day rowing event. Over 8,000 athletes from around the world compete in 55 different race events. The regatta grew to a two-day event in 1997 and attracts up to 300,000 spectators.

The two-day regatta begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday and runs through Sunday. Live results can be found here and complete results will be listed on the official regatta website at www.hocr.org. Please click here for the competitors link.
