FAIRFAX, Va. - The George
Mason wrestling team took a loss today against conference rivals, Drexel. Mason lost 25-9 and fell to 0-11 on the year
with a 0-1 record in the CAA.
Zachory
Huxford started off with a close loss to Michael Gomez in which he dropped a
6-7 decision. After a forfeit in the 133
weight class, Denny Herndon lost in another close match when he was defeated by
Josh Yurastis in a 3-4 decision.
Losing
in the team score, 0-12, Mason would then win 3 out of the next 4 matches. Brandon Bucher posted a 9-3 decision over
Austin Sommer and Jaziah Bethea beat Charles Aungst 4-2. Aaron Keeton lost to Joe Booth in a 2-8
decision and Jimmy Kaden followed this with a 3-2 victory over Justin
Wieller.
With
the team score at 9-15, Mason would lose the next three matches on their way to
lose their 11th straight dual meet.
Seth Robertson lost to Shaun Fausey 0-6, Jimmy Webb received a 2-10
major decision against Brandon Palik, and Hunter Manspile was beat by Jack
Callender 0-4.
Mason
will return to the mat this Saturday, January 15 for the CAA Duals. They will face Rider, Boston University and
Hofstra with the first match set to begin at 10 a.m. at the Field House.
