SUNSET BEACH, N.C.--The Mason men's golf team was very consistent in their three rounds at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate carding a 859 (286-287-286) and finishing in third place out of 12 teams. The Patriots were just three strokes behind Samford who turned in a low round of 280 on Sunday.

Josh Apple (71-72-71) and Branson Real (70-72-72) led the way for George Mason finishing tied for 12th place with a score of 214. Joe Buttgereit shot a two-under 70 in the final round to finish tied for 16th with a score of 216 (75-71-70) while Casey Thompson finished tied at 19th (72-72-73 - 217).

High Point's Chase Wilson shot a two-under 70 during the final round of the Sea Trail Men's Intercollegiate to finish with a 10-under-par 206 and take the top honors. Tanner Norton of Elon finished in second place with a three-day score of 210 (64-69-77).

Elon took the team title with a six-stroke advantage and a score of 850 (275-284-291). Samford finished the tournament in second place after shooting a low round of 280 on Sunday (281-295-280 - 856). George Mason finished three stroke behind Samford with a score of 859 (286-287-286) while High Point placed fourth (288-283-290 ­- 861) and Guilford finished fifth (291-288-285 - 864).
