The Mason women's tennis team opened the 4th Annual Mason 3-2 Invitational by splitting their first two matches today. Mason defeated Virginia State, 5-0 and then lost a close contest to Georgetown 2-3. Georgetown also defeated Virginia State 5-0 and George Washington 3-2 in the five team annual tournament.
Brooke Blackwell improved her consecutive singles streak with a win against Virginia State. Mason's top singles player Kiersten Pappas split her two singles matches. Alison Wingo and Lindsay Gray were also singles match winners.
The tournament continues tomorrow as Mason plays Mt. St. Mary's at 10:15am and then battles George Washington at 2:00pm. Other matches on Saturday include: GW vs V.S.U. at 8:30; Mt. St. Mary's vs VSU at 12:15pm; and GW vs MSM at 4:00pm.
