George Mason redshirt junior Dan Palumbo has shined in the classroom through all eight of his semesters at Mason and this year, during his finest season on the field, the first baseman was recognized for his acumen as he was named Second-Team Academic All-District. Palumbo is one of three Colonial Athletic Association players to earn the honor.

Palumbo, who is majoring in finance and on pace to earn his undergraduate degree this spring, has a 3.84 cumulative grade-point average. He is batting .402 this season with a .497 on-base percentage and he has started 34 of 43 games. The team's regular first baseman, he has hit .316 in his career and in 2007, was named to the CAA All-Rookie Team. He is among the school's all-time leaders in hit by pitch and he has been on the Dean's List all seven of his previous semesters at Mason.

Palumbo was joined on the second-team by Georgia State's Daniel Blaustein and James Madison's Mike Fabiaschi.
