FAIRFAX, Va. -
The George Mason women's lacrosse team took part in a pair of community service initiatives during the month of April. The Patriots raised money for breast cancer awareness at their Power in Pink Game earlier this month, and also participated in the Patriot Club Thank-A-Thon.
On April 18 against Drexel, George Mason wore special pink jerseys designed by Under Armour to support the company's Power in Pink initiative, which is designed to pay tribute to women everywhere who are fighting breast cancer. By raising awareness and contributing a percentage of Power in Pink jersey sales to national breast cancer charities, Under Armour and Mason Lacrosse hope to bring us all closer to an end to the disease. In the past, Under Armour has donated money from sales of its Power in Pink products to the American Breast Cancer Foundation, the Arnold S. Leonard Cancer Research Fund, Casting for Recovery, The Hoffberger Breast Center at Mercy and The Red Devils.
In addition to the Power in Pink Game, the Patriots also took part in the Patriot Club Thank-A-Thon. Team members called donors who designated monetary gifts to the Patriot Club and the George Mason Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund to thank them for their generosity.
