FAIRFAX, Va. - A goal by sophomore Rebecca Hartrum with 15 seconds left in the second overtime carried the Old Dominion Lady Monarchs past the George Mason Patriots by a final score of 10-9 on Senior Day at George Mason Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Patriots held a pair of one-goal leads with less than a minute to play at the end of the second half and the first overtime but were unable to hold on for the win.

George Mason took a 9-8 lead with 4:44 left in the first overtime when Megan Udovich scored her game-high fourth goal of the contest. Freshman Caitlin Formato assisted on the score. The Patriots had a few opportunities to add to their lead in the first overtime but were unable to put the ball in the net. Sophomore Emily Ellisen's shot hit the post, and shots by Madalyn Jamison and Cristina Maurizi were saved by ODU goalkeeper Sarah Geary.

After Geary's save of Maurizi's shot with 1:03 remaining in the first overtime, Old Dominion cleared the ball successfully and began to set up its offense. With 15 seconds remaining, junior Chelsea Gamble fouled the Lady Monarchs' Nicole McMahon to set up a free-position attempt for McMahon. McMahon snuck the ball past Mason goalkeeper Sara Longobucco to tie the score at nine with 12 seconds remaining. Following the goal, Formato came up with the draw control for the Patriots, but the clock ran out on Mason and the first overtime ended in a tie.

In the second overtime, neither team took a shot until Hartrum hit the game-winner with 15 seconds remaining to end the contest. Sophomore Lisa Bernardini assisted on the goal.

Mason trailed 7-3 with 22:25 remaining in the second half after junior Clara Flanagan and senior Katherine Bruno scored back-to-back goals for the Lady Monarchs to open the second half. Junior attacker Callie Hoyt sparked a 5-0 run for the Patriots when she fired a shot past Geary with 21:51 left in the half. Jamison was credited with an assist on the goal. The assist, which was Jamison's 36th of the 2010 season and the 79th of her three-year collegiate career, set a new career assist record at George Mason. Jamison broke Lisa Hagan's mark of 78 career assists set during the 2004 season.

Following Hoyt's goal, a pair of senior attackers took control of the game for the Patriots. Udovich scored back-to-back goals to cut the deficit to 7-6 with 3:39 remaining. Roughly a minute later, sophomore Mary Schwartz found Maurizi open in front of the net for the tying score.

With 1:31 remaining in the game, Jamison found Udovich open for a goal to give the Patriots an 8-7 lead. After 51 seconds ticked off the clock, Old Dominion tied the score at eight when Saratu Dodo scored off an assist by Ashley Kellogg.

The senior class of Longobucco, Maurizi and Udovich were honored in a ceremony prior to the start of the game and each of the three seniors made major contributions in their final game in front of the home crowd. Longobucco finished with 10 saves in 68:45 in goal, Maurizi scored a goal and added five draw controls and Udovich led all players with four goals in the game.

George Mason (3-13, 0-6 CAA) closes its 2010 season with a road game against No. 9 James Madison on Thursday, April 29 at 7 p.m. in Harrisonburg, Va.
