George Mason University is hosting the 2010 Virginia 529 College Savings Plan CAA Rowing Championship on Sunday, April 25 at Sandy Run Regional Park in Fairfax Station, Va. The championship kicks off with the Varsity 4 race at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Second Varsity 8 race at 9:40. The championship concludes with the Varsity 8 race at 9:50 a.m.

Five full CAA members currently sponsor women's rowing at the intercollegiate level - the University of Delaware, Drexel University, George Mason University, Northeastern University and Old Dominion University. Joining that group as an associate member in women's rowing will be the University of Buffalo.

Mason rowers go into the championships with some momentum as they swept West Virginia last weekend. Northeastern, which won the inaugural CAA Rowing Championship in 2009, captured the Orange Cup in Philadelphia earlier this month.

Last year's runner-up, the University of Buffalo, won the Harvey Cup in Buffalo and also picked up four wins in the Indiana Invitational and a pair of victories at the Knecht Cup in Camden, N.J. during this year's spring slate.

Drexel finished first in the Petite Final at the San Diego Crew Classic and also won the Lela Kerr Cup in Philadelphia, while Old Dominion placed second at the Kerr Cup. Delaware picked up a pair of third-place finishes at this year's Murphy Cup.

This is no charge for admission, but parking is $10.
