The Patriots Junior Marshall Tinsley was selected to the All-CAA Second Team and was honored at the CAA banquet last night. Award winners were voted by the league's head coaches and the coaches will vote for the Player, Rookie and Coach of the Year awards after the conclusion of the CAA Championship.
Tinsley led the Patriots in four of eight tournaments this season. He had six top 25 performances, including a season-best fourth place at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate in the fall. He carded two rounds in the 60s, including a 66 at the ODU Seascape and a 67 at Sea Trail.
The All-CAA first team included five players, all of which earned All-CAA honors a year ago, highlighted by UNCW's Josh Brock and VCU's Campos and Lanto Griffin, which earned first-team honors for the second straight season. Old Dominion's Eric Onesi and Georgia State's Tom Sherreard, who both earned second-team honors in 2009, were also honored.
Six golfers were named to the All-CAA second team, highlighted Martinson, Towson's Nyasha Mauchaza, VCU's Vincent Nadeau, William & Mary's Brandon Parker, George Mason's Marshall Tinsley and UNCW's Derek Wallace.
The awards were presented Friday night following the first round of the 2010 CAA Men's Golf Championship, which resumes Saturday morning at The Homestead Cascades Course. The 54-hole championship concludes on Sunday.
