RICHMOND, Va. - Senior Becky Anderson did not allow a single run in her three complete-game pitching performances this past week in leading the George Mason softball team to three wins, and for her efforts she was recognized as the Colonial Athletic Association's Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
It is the second time this season that Anderson has earned the award, after doing so on March 22. With Monday's award, the Oakton, Va., native has now been recognized six times in her career by the conference, including four top pitcher honors.
Anderson tossed three shutouts, including a career-long 12 inning shutout against Towson in the finale of the conference series. The senior pitched 24 innings, allowed six hits and no runs during her time in the circle. She also struck out 15 batters and walked just one. In both Wednesday's game against Maryland-Eastern Shore and game one against the Tigers, Anderson allowed just one hit in each game while also surrendering no walks.
For the season, Anderson ranks second in the CAA in earned run average (1.30) and has struck out 53 batters compared to just seven walks.
Anderson and the Patriots open a six-game road trip with a 4 p.m. contest at George Washington on Wednesday.
