Guthrie-Gresham and Saddic Named to CAA Women's Track & Field Silver Anniversary Team

RICHMOND, Va. - Two George Mason women's track and field legends were honored among the best in Colonial Athletic Association history on Thursday as Diane Guthrie-Gresham and Kim Saddic were selected to the CAA's Silver Anniversary Team, as part of the conference's 25th anniversary celebration.

Guthrie-Gresham competed for the Patriots from 1991-1995 and was a five-time NCAA champion, winning the 1991 indoor and outdoor long jumps, the 1994 outdoor heptathlon and 1995 indoor long jump and outdoor heptathlon. She was a three-time CAA Female Athlete of the Year (1992, 1994-95) and captured 11 individual CAA titles and eight outdoor ECAC titles. Winner of the 1995 Honda Award and Track & Field News and USTCA Female Athlete of the Year, Guthrie-Gresham holds school records in the long jump (22-8½/6.92m), high jump (6-2¾/1.90m) and hepathlon (6,527).

The Santa Cruz, Jamaica native competed for her home country in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and finished seventh in the 400-meter dash (45.07) and 14th in the heptathlon (6,077). She was inducted into the Mason Track & Field Hall of Fame in 1998.

Kim Saddic was the 1992 NCAA Champion in the 10,000 meter run.


Saddic was the 1992 NCAA champion in the 10,000-meters, earning All-America status that year and in 1990. The 17-time All-East Region selection competed from 1989-1992 for the Patriots, winning two CAA titles in the 3,000-meters her sophomore year as well as in the 5,000-meters her senior season with a then-meet record of 16:50.69.

The West Chester, Pa., native still holds the 10,000-meter school record (33:34.40) and set school records of 9:31.17 in the 3,000-meters and 16:21.54 in the 5,000-meters, which have since been surpassed. Named to the 1992 GTE Academic All-America Second Team, she earned a post-graduate scholarship from the CAA and was inducted into Mason's Track & Field Hall of Fame in 1995.
