FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason men's team finished in second place while the women were fifth and the Patriots collected four individual honors as the 2010 Colonial Athletic Association Swimming & Diving Championships drew to a close on Saturday evening at Jim McKay Natatorium.

Senior Eric Knight was named the Most Outstanding Men's Swimmer of the Championships, while sophomores Ashley Danner and Kristen Meier earned the awards for women's swimming and diving, respectively. Mason diving coach Roland McDonald was recognized as the CAA's Women's Diving Coach of the Year as well.

Knight set school, pool, meet and CAA top performance records with his first-place time in the 100-yard freestyle, earning an NCAA consideration with a mark of 44.06. Danner, meanwhile, earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships with her record-breaking time of 2:08.66, a new best for the school, conference and meet.

Meier, who did not compete on Saturday, swept the diving events with scores of 321.75 in the 1-meter on Friday and 342.20 points in the 3-meter on Wednesday.

Sophomore Preston Wolter won the 1,650-yard freestyle, his third title of the championships, with a B-cut time of 15:17.79. Classmate Bryan Bahr was victorious as well, winning the 3-meter diving competition with a score of 361.05. Finally, the men's 400-yard freestyle relay which placed second set a new school record with a time of 2:59.84.

Mason finished with 633 points on the men's side, trailing the first-place UNC Wilmington Seahawks by 72. Towson claimed the women's title with 792 points, while the Patriots tallied 373.
