FAIRFAX, Va. - Through the first full day of action at Jim McKay Natatorium, the George Mason men's swimming and diving team sits in second place while the women are fifth in the Colonial Athletic Association Championship standings. On the first day of swimming action, two Patriots garnered CAA titles while Mason earned a total of seven top-3 finishes.

Sophomore Ashley Danner picked up her first CAA title in 2010 in record-breaking fashion, setting a new CAA meet record and conference top performance in the 200-yard individual medley. Danner finished first in 1:58.32, a time that is also an NCAA B-cut.

Meanwhile, classmate Preston Wolter was victorious in the 500-yard freestyle, capturing the title with a B-cut time of 4:27.70. Both Wolter and Danner successfully defended their titles in their respective events.

Freshman David Kiss was second in the men's 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:51.13 while off the diving board, sophomores Derrick Butts and Bryan Bahr finished with silver and bronze in the 1-meter dive. Butts tallied a score of 328.10 while Bahr trailed him with a mark of 322.50.

The Patriots trail first-place UNC Wilmington by 42 points on the men's side, while Towson holds the lead in women's action with 224 team points.

The CAA Championships continue through Saturday, with Friday's preliminary sessions set to begin at 10 a.m. and the finals starting at 6 p.m.
