HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Patriots golf team dropped from a ninth place standing after day one to finish 16th at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate. None of the five Mason golfers could best their first round score leading to a 13 stroke differential team score from the first to second round at the par 72 6,828-yard Hilton Head course.

Andrew Maryan led the Patriots overall after carding three-over par 75s for both rounds and finished in an overall tie for 25th. Newcomer Casey Thompson turned in the next best score for the Green and Gold with a 75-78=153. Sophomore Josh Apple finished his scoring shooting a six-over par 78 in each round.

Wake Forest edged out host Francis Marion by one stroke to take tournament honors. Overall medalist honors go to Jackson Taylor from Davidson and Lee Bedford from Wake Forest after each carding a two-under par 142.

The Patriots travel to Tallahassee, Fla. for the Seminole Intercollegiate, Mar. 12-14.
