George Mason freshman Anthony Montefusco played in three of Mason's four games last weekend at the 2010 Bojangles Baseball Classic and the two-way player was impressive at the plate and on the mound. For his performance during Mason's 3-1 start, he was named the CAA Baseball Rookie of the Week.

Montefusco was 5 for 7 at the plate for the Patriots with a pair of RBI as he started one game and came off the bench in two others. In the season opener against Northwestern, he pinch hit and went 1 for 1 with a run scored and two RBI in a 25-2 win. In an 11-4 loss to Winthrop, he came off the bench and again came through with a hit, this time scoring after leading off the inning. In Mason's final game against Northwestern, a 15-1 win, he started at first base and went 3 for 5 at the plate. He pitched the top of the ninth for Mason and he allowed no runs on two hits with no walks to finish off the weekend series.

Hailing from Shawnee High School in Medford, N.J., Montefusco leads the team with a .714 batting average. He has not made an error in 10 chances on the season. The Patriots will return to action on Friday when they host Monmouth at 2:30 p.m.
