Fairfax, Va.--The George Mason men's tennis team was in action this weekend against Shepherd and St. Francis and was victorious in both outings. The Patriots defeated the Rams on Saturday, 7-0 at Burke Racquet Club and edged the Red Flash, 4-3 Sunday at Montclair Country Club. Mason moves to 2-2 on the season.
The Patriots had a clean sweep in doubles action, winning all six matches. All three Patriot doubles teams are in their first year together. Sophomore Jorge Osuna is paired with freshman Kevin McMillen at the top position; Greg Donabedian and freshman Patrick Mulquin played at No. 2; and freshmen Sam Coster and Devin Leonard at No. 3.
In singles play, freshmen Kevin McMillen and Sam Coster, and sophomore Greg Donabedian each finished 2-0. McMillen defeated Shepherd's Taylor Boyle, 6-4 6-1, from No. 1 singles and the Red Flash' Steve Child's in three sets from the No. 2 spot. Coster won his matches from the No. 4 and 5 positions and Donabedian from No. 3 and 4.
