FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason swimming and diving team recorded a sweep over George Washington in the Patriots' final regular season meet of the season, as the men defeated the Colonials 109-87 while the women were victorious over GW at Jim McKay Natatorium Sunday afternoon by a score of 113-73.

Mason recorded victories in 12 events. Five Patriot men were winners, led by seniors Eric Knight (1000 free, 10:12.46) and Steven Benecki (500 free, 4:43.10) on Senior Day. Also tallying wins on the men's side were sophomore Preston Wolter (100 free, 47.67) and freshmen David Kiss (50 free, 22.53) and Austin Witherow (200 IM, 2:00.29).

On the women's side, sophomore Sophia Graesser was a double-event winner, capturing first place in the 200 free (1:56.75) and 500 free (5:18.44). Two Patriot senior women won as well as Caitlin Impink finished first in the 200 back (2:13.26) while Claire Weems won the 50 free in 25.34.

Picking up wins as well for Mason were junior Jennifer Kane (1000 free, 10:36.20), sophomore Ashley Danner (100 free, 52.03), and freshman Kelsey Holmgaard (200 IM, 2:10.17).

The Patriots will be idle for more that three weeks as they prepare for the 2010 CAA Championships which will take place at Jim McKay Natatorium from February 24-27.
