Stacy James Named to CAA's 25th Anniversary Softball Team

RICHMOND, Va. - Former George Mason softball standout Stacy James has been selected among the Colonial Athletic Association's 25 greatest players, as the conference announced its Silver Anniversary Team on Thursday, commemorating its 25th anniversary.

The teams were selected by a panel of current and former coaches in the conference.

James, a 2005 graduate of Mason, played four years with the Patriots and received All-CAA honors in each of her four seasons. She was the 2003 CAA Player of the Year as well as the top player in the state of Virginia. Additionally, she was selected the conference's Rookie of the Year when she debuted with the Patriots in 2002.

That season, she was named to the All-CAA first team, an accomplishment she also achieved in 2003 and 2005. Her junior season in 2004 saw her earn second-team All-CAA honors.

James, a native of Leesburg, Va., holds five career school records at Mason: at bats (733), hits (265), runs (134), triples (20) and assists (602). She was a member of the 2002-2005 Mason teams which accumulated a 120-104 record (.536).
