The Patriots golf team sits in fifth place overall after first round action at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate played at the Sea Trail Resort in Sunset Beach, N.C. The team score of 286 is four strokes off fourth-place Campbell and six strokes behind third-place James Madison. Stetson has the team lead against the field of 16 teams after an opening round 14-under 272 total.

Marshall Tinsley leads Mason after shooting a five-under par 67 to sit in a tie for second overall on the 6,761 yard, par-72 course layout. Casey Thompson posted a 70 while Josh Apple and Greg Brouse posted a 74 and 75, respectively, for the Patriots.

Stetson's Sam Ryder shot a six-under-par 66 to lead the field at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate. Villanova's Brian Colbert is tied for second with Tinsley.

The second round of the Sea Trail Intercollegiate will begin at 8:30 on Saturday, September 26.
