Men's Cross Country Team Ranked 14th in the Southeast Region by USTFCCCA

    NEW ORLEANS - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its preseason polls for each of the nine regions of NCAA men's cross country on Monday. George Mason's men's team is ranked 14th in the Southeast Region to begin the 2009 season.

    The Patriots finished in sixth place at the James Madison Invitational on Saturday morning behind a pair of top-20 individual finishes in the 8k race. Senior James Burns was Mason's top finisher, wrapping up the race in 25:44.90 to earn 17th place. Freshman John Holt finished two spots behind Burns in 19th place with a time of 25:49.70.

    Last year, the Patriots finished in third place at the CAA Men's Cross Country Championships as a team. It was the third consecutive finish among the top-three teams in the standings for the men's team.
