NCAA Triple Jump Preliminaries - Results
2009 NCAA Track & Field Championships Central
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - George Mason senior Ryann Hendricks posted a distance of 12.69 meters in the final triple jump competition of her Patriots career, but the mark was not enough to advance beyond the preliminaries at the 2009 NCAA Track & Field Championships on Friday afternoon.
Hendricks competed in the second flight and opened with a 12.48-meter jump. Her second attempt resulted in a foul, but the final jump tallied the 12.69-meter length for a 11th-place finish within her flight and 22nd overall.
The top 12 from Friday's preliminaries advance to Saturday's final round, with the 12th-place mark coming from Stanford's Whitney Liehr who recorded 12.96 meters. Middle Tennessee State's Sarah Nambawa had the top mark of 13.79 meters.
The Chicago, Ill., native earned a spot in the national championships by virtue of her fifth-place finish at the NCAA East Regional Championships two weekends ago. At the meet in Greensboro, N.C., Hendricks jumped to a distance of 13.11 meters, the highest in her flight. Her mark, which bested her previous career high by nearly one-half of a meter, ranks third all-time among Mason's female triple jumpers.
This season, Hendricks was named the Co-Most Outstanding Women's Field Performer of the CAA Championships after capturing the conference's triple jump title and placing second in the long jump. She qualified for the NCAA East Regionals in both events, as well as a pair of top-five finishes at the ECAC Championships in May.
