Bridges Wins the LaxPower Fan Award for Best Senior Defender

    FAIRFAX, Va. - Senior defender Maggie Bridges was selected as the winner of the Best Senior Defender award in the voting for the 2009 LaxPower Fan Awards. Fans across the nation selected the winner of the award by voting on LaxPower.com.

    Bridges earned her third consecutive First-Team All-CAA selection following the 2009 season. Bridges, the CAA Defensive Player of the Year in 2008, wrapped up her senior season third in the nation and first in the CAA in ground balls per game with an average of 3.81 per contest. The Fairfax, Va. native led the Patriots in caused turnovers with a total of 24.

    Opposing Bridges on the ballot were UNC's Amber Falcone, Princeton's Marie McKenna, Penn's Hilary Renna, Georgetown's Jordan Trautman and ODU's Lindsay Belle. Other award categories included Best Senior Attack, Best Senior Midfield, Best Senior Goalie and Best Senior Draw Control.
