Krieger Named CAA Player of the Week; Patriots Host GW on Tuesday

Fairfax, Va. - George Mason senior outfielder Scott Krieger hit nearly .700 last week as he was an unstoppable force in Mason's series with VCU. As a result, the nation's leader in active career home runs and RBI was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week. Krieger and the Patriots will host George Washington on Tuesday at 3 p.m.

Krieger hit .692 with a 1.231 slugging percentage and a .733 on-base percentage. He was 9 for 13 with a home run, two triples, five runs scored and seven RBI. Krieger leads the Patriots in slugging, on-base percentage, homers, triples and RBI this year. He is batting .390 with an .801 slugging percentage, a .489 on-base percentage, 14 homers, four triples, eight doubles, 54 RBI and 42 runs scored.

Chris Henderson is leading Mason with a .403 average and he and Spencer Wiggins are tied with 44 runs scored. Henderson also has 15 doubles and 10 homers and is slugging .721 while Wiggins is 10 of 13 in stolen bases and he has a .407 on-base percentage. Justin Bour also has 13 homers and 41 RBI with a .639 slugging percentage. Mason will send Ryan Pfaeffle to the mound. The freshman is 2-0 with a 2.83 ERA and a .210 opponent's batting average.

George Washington is 17-22 on the year and the Colonials lost to Mason earlier this month, 17-5. The Colonials are led by Sean Rockey who is hitting .407 with seven homers and 48 RBI. Only one other player, Ryan Thomas, is hitting better than .330 and he is batting .356 in 22 games. George Washington will start Jay Lively who is 0-1 with a 5.19 ERA on the season. He is making his first start of the year after 15 relief appearances.
