Mason's women's tennis team hit the hard courts with conference foe Towson and came up short, losing 5-2 to the Tigers at the Mason Tennis Courts. The Tigers won the doubles point and four singles points for the win. The Patriots fall to 6-8 on the season.

Towson opened the scoring winning the top two doubles matches. Caitlyn White and Lauren Cloonan defeated Mason's top team of Lindsay Gray and Meredith Cutchin, 8-3 and Andrea Carr and Evelyn Izaguirre secured the doubles point with an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles against Sarah Dieffenbach and Aryn Christman. Mason's Brooke Blackwell and Alicia Van Zandt defeated Katie Young and Beth Daub at No. 3 doubles, but the doubles point went to Towson.

The Patriots earned their two points at the No. 4 and 5 singles matches. Cutchin defeated Izaguirre in the tie-breaker set, 6-4, 3-6, 11-9 at No. 4. Mason's Christman won a very competitive match against Ashley Peretz, 7-6(2), 7-5.

The Patriots tennis team was originally scheduled to play Drexel at home today, but because of the high probability of rain in the forecast the match has been postponed. The team travels to Longwood for a match on Friday and Winston-Salem on Saturday.
