The George Mason softball team hosts its second tournament of the season this weekend as Central Connecticut State, Cornell and Niagara join the Patriots for the 2009 George Mason Invitational, being held from Friday to Sunday at George Mason Field.
Admission to all of the softball games is free.
The start time of the tournament Friday has been pushed back two hours, with the opening game between Mason and Niagara now scheduled for 4 p.m.
Mason comes into the weekend with a 6-6 record after a 1-2 showing last weekend at the Patriot Classic. The Patriots toppled Akron, 2-1, thanks to CAA Pitcher of the Week Becky Anderson's two-hit complete game. On Saturday, Mason dropped to a pair of foes from the City of Brotherly Love, a 8-4 loss to Saint Joseph's and a 6-1 defeat at the hands of Penn.
CCSU comes to Fairfax with a 0-1 record, as the Blue Devils fell at Longwood, 14-3, last weekend before the remainder of the Longwood Spring Classic was canceled due to weather.
Cornell, which opened its season last weekend at the Patriot Classic, holds a 2-0 record with wins last weekend over Akron and Saint Joseph's.
The Purple Eagles of Niagara sport a 7-1 record heading into the weekend.
