The Mason golf team hosted the Patriot Intercollegiate and the Patriot Shootout Monday and Tuesday at Laurel Hills Golf Course in Lorton, Va. In the 36-hole Patriot Intercollegiate Mason finished in third place in the five-team event. The Patriots rebounded today to earn medalist honors at the 18-hole Patriot Shootout.
The tournament today featured a non-traditional six play/five scores count format.
The Patriots shot a team score 380 besting Central Connecticut by three strokes and Binghamton by nine in the Patriot Shootout. Mason's Greg Brouse won the event shooting even par. The Patriots Branson Real shot a one-over par to finish tied for second.
Binghamton won the Patriot Intercollegiate by 18 strokes over second-place George Washington with a team score of 612 at the 6,874 par 72 course. Three players finished eight-over par to win the event, Brendan Barrack (George Washington) and Binghamton's P. Stoic Donovan and Trevor Fieldler.
Two players earned low round on Monday as Mason's Marshall Tinsley and Brandon Ellis from Georgetown each carded a two-over par 74.
