COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Freshman Ashley Danner continued to represent George Mason well at the NCAA Women's Swimming Championships on Friday, as she earned All-America honorable mention status with her 15th-place time of 1:00.57 in the 100-yard breaststroke finals.
Danner, whose season-best time was 59.78, swam out to a time of 59.99 in the preliminaries on Friday morning, the 10th-fastest time of the session. With the mark, the Springfield, Va., native earned a spot in Friday night's consolation final, where she finished in 1:00.57. By making the consolation final, Danner earns All-America honorable mention recognition.
USC's Rebecca Soni, who earned a silver medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the 100-meter breaststroke, took home first place in the NCAA final with a time of 58.36, a meet record.
Danner will compete in one more event in Texas, as she takes to the water on Saturday morning for the 200-yard breaststroke prelims at 11 a.m. central time, with finals scheduled for the 7 p.m. evening session.
