Women's Lacrosse Drops Home Opener to No. 12 Boston University, 19-7

FAIRFAX, Va. - No. 12 Boston University scored the first 10 goals of the second half on its way to a 19-7 victory over George Mason in the 2009 women's lacrosse home opener for the Patriots on Saturday afternoon at George Mason Stadium. Senior attacker Brittany Berger scored four of the Patriots seven goals in the contest.

Mason's record falls to 2-3 on the season after taking the loss. After beginning the season 0-2, the Patriots entered the contest with wins in their last two games. Boston University improves to 3-3 on the season, snapping its three-game losing streak.

After scoring the final two goals of the first half, the Patriots entered the intermission trailing by only three goals, 9-6. Following the break, the Terriers took control of the contest, outscoring the Patriots 10-0 over a span of 27:10. Mason scored its lone goal of the half with 2:50 remaining in the contest.

Brittany Berger added an assist in the contest for a total of five points. Junior Megan Udovich added two goals. Junior goalkeeper Sara Longobucco played all 60 minutes in goal, tallying a total of six saves.

Sarah Dalton scored five goals and added two assists for Boston University. McKinley Curro chipped in four goals for the Terriers. Goalkeeper Rachel Klein played the entire game and made 13 stops.

George Mason plays again on Wednesday, March 18 against Georgetown at George Mason Stadium. The opening draw is slated for 7 p.m.
