The University of Mary Washington men's tennis team, ranked 10th in the nation in NCAA Division III, defeated George Mason, 5-2, on Saturday at the UMW indoor tennis center. The Patriots fall to 0-3 on the spring season.
The Patriots got off to a quick start winning the top two singles spots. Senior Brian Fitzgerald defeated his opponent, 7-6, 6-3 at the No. 1 singles position and freshman Jorge Osuna won his match in three sets at No. 2 singles.
In doubles action, the Eagles received the point after winning the No. 2 and No. 3 matches. Mason's top doubles team of Fitzgerald and senior Dan Schneider defeated Mary Washington's top team of Randy Loden and Kaz Murata, 9-7.
