OTTAWA - George Mason senior Alana Chan was one of 18 players chosen to represent the Canadian National Team at the 2009 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Cup in Prague, Czech Republic from June 18-27. It will mark the second consecutive World Cup that Chan has participated in as a member of Team Canada.

Chan was also a member of the 2005 Canadian National Team that finished in fourth place at the World Cup in Annapolis, Md. In addition to making the senior team's roster for the 2005 World Cup, Chan also played for Canada's Under-19 team in 2003, serving as the team's co-captain.

The women's World Cup competitions have been held every four years since 1982. In the 27-year history of the event, Canada has finished as high as third. Canada is ranked fourth heading into this year's event based on its performance four years ago.

Joining Chan on the squad will be former Patriot assistant coach Brooke McKenzie, who is a member of the team's active roster. Serving as an assistant coach for the team will be former George Mason head coach Amy Bokker.

Team Canada will open World Cup competition against the defending champion Australia on Thursday, June 18.
