ESPN 980 to Serve as Flagship Station to Mason Men's Basketball Broadcasts

Fairfax, VA (November 12, 2009) - George Mason University will once again team up with ESPN 980 radio to broadcast the Patriots Men's basketball games throughout the Northern Virginia and Washington D.C. metropolitan area. WTNT-AM (570) will be the prime media outlet for Patriots basketball games and WWRC-AM (1260) will broadcast a few games as the secondary outlet. Mason basketball fans will have the opportunity to listen to weekly interviews all season with head coach Jim Larranaga on ESPN 980's all-sports programming.

The play-by-play and analyst talent for each radio broadcast are Bill Rohland and Ric Wilson. Rohland will be in his 11th season with the Patriots and his fifth doing play-by-play. He served as color analyst for the Patriots for six seasons. Wilson is returning for his fourth season with Mason serving as color analyst. Wilson played at Mason from 1982-86 and the Patriots had a 74-42 record during his time on the court.

The broadcast schedule begins Friday, November 13 at 7:30 p.m. when the team opens the 2009-10 season at home in the Patriot Center against Liberty. The home opener is scheduled on WWRC-AM 1260. In addition, the complete broadcast content of all George Mason basketball games will be available on the Internet at the official website of George Mason athletics, GoMason.com.

The Leffler Agency's broadcast subsidiary, Leffler Sports, negotiated and arranged the broadcast rights commitment.
