RICHMOND, Va. - George Mason sophomore divers Derrick Butts and Kristen Meier have established themselves among the class of the Colonial Athletic Association, and once again the conference has recognized their performances with the Men's and Women's Diver of the Week awards, announced today by the CAA.
Meier captures the award for the third straight week while Butts earned the honor for the second time in his career.
With a record-breaking performance at Bucknell, Meier swept the board events for the third straight week. The Walden, N.Y., native recorded a new team high in the 1-meter dive with a score of 315.22 which bested her previous school record by over 15 points. In the 3-meter competition, Meier toppled Jamie Downing's school record of 298.50 by scoring 312.45 points to win the event on Saturday.
Butts also took home first place in both of the diving events against the Bison. The Silver Spring, Md., native swept the diving events with scores of 293.40 in the 1-meter and 319.95 in the 3-meter competitions.
The Patriots will be back in action on November 6-7 when they travel to Delaware for the two-day CAA Pod Meet.
