The second day of the Mary Washington Kick-off proved to be much more successful than the first for the Patriots men's tennis team. Mason recorded five victories on the day led by newcomer Lee Wexler, who won his first doubles and singles matches of the season.
In Wexler's singles match used his massive serve and a forehand booming past his opponent every time he would charge the net en route to a 6-3, 6-3 victory. Paired up with Schneider for his doubles match, they easily defeated Richmond's duo of Feely and Arana, 8-3.
Brian Fitzgerald was the first one to notch his singles victory on Saturday as he won 6-2, 6-4 against Liberty's Clay Cypert. He finished with a 2-1 record on the weekend.
Jorge Osuna was the second player to notch a singles victory as he won 6-4, 3-6, 6-2. This was his first win of the season. His match was much saw very high number of volleys to score a point towards the middle of the match, but the beginning of the match showed Jorge to have a tough serve to return and a sound knowledge of how to place the ball in certain situations to secure a point.
Jordan Lipstock won his singles match after starting out slow losing the first set 2-6, but rallied back in the second to win convincingly 6-0 and took the third set 6-4. Lipstock utilized his massive serve and his forehand keeping his opponent from charging the net.
The patriots travel to the Mount St. Mary's Invitational October 4-5.
