The Mason men's tennis team began their fall competition schedule this weekend at the Mary Washington Kick-off. Along with host Mary Washington, teams from Longwood and Richmond also participated.

The Patriots top player Brian Fitzgerald won his opening match against Mary Washington's John James in three sets 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. Mason's Jordan Lipstock lost the first set in a tie-breaker 7-6(6) before losing the match. In doubles action, the team of Lipstock and Vaughn had a competitive opening match against Mary Washington's team of Frisk/Baver before losing 9-8.
