Wilmington, N.C. - The George Mason baseball team was unable to extend its season-long winning streak on Saturday afternoon as the Patriots, playing at No. 24 UNC Wilmington, gave up seven runs in the sixth inning and fell to the Seahawks, 10-0 in Colonial Athletic Association action at Brooks Field. The loss snapped Mason's five-game winning streak.

Mason managed just five hits as Justin Bour, Scott Krieger, Josh Steinberg, Brent Weiss and Ryan Uphouse had the hits for the Patriots. Bobby Leeper and Nate Hall each had two hits and three RBI for UNC Wilmington which also took advantage of seven walks by Mason pitchers.

With two outs and the bases empty in the bottom of the second, Mason starter Mike Modica had Alex Hill in an 0-2 hole. But Hill worked out a walk, Mike Rooney reached on a bunt single and Bobby Leeper singled through the right side to put the Seahawks on the board, 1-0. Mason got its first hit in the fourth when Justin Bour singled with one out. With two outs, Josh Steinberg singled down the rightfield line to put runners on the corners but Mark Hill grounded out to third to end the inning.

In the fifth, Brent Weiss reached on a single to lead off the inning when his liner hit Holt. Ryan Uphouse followed with a walk and Spencer Wiggins' sacrifice bunt put the runners in scoring position. But Weiss was gunned down at home on Soares' hard grounder to third and Henderson flew out to left to keep the score 1-0.

Things fell apart for Mason in the sixth. With one out, Cody Stanley reached on an infield, Jes Snyder followed with a walk and Alex Hill was hit by a pitch to load the bases ending Modica's day. A sacrifice bunt by Rooney off of Shawn Griffith made it 2-0 and a Leeper double made it 4-0. Griffith then walked three straight to force in Leeper to make it 5-0 and end Griffith's outing. Nate Hall greeted T.J. O'Grady with a bases-clearing double to make it 8-0.

In the eighth, Jason Appel singled to center with two outs and Mark Carver followed with his 19th homer of the year to make it 10-0 and end the scoring. The Patriots and Seahawks will conclude their three-game series on Sunday with the rubber match slated for 2 p.m.
