Women's Rowing hosted the Double Duals this Sunday facing off against Dayton and cross town rival Georgetown. The novices demonstrated the bright future ahead for Mason.
The Patriots opened the day facing Dayton in with Varsity 8 where they lost by 4.81 seconds, posting a time of 7:20.81. Then came the 2nd Varsity 8 posting a 7:34.83, 5.99 seconds behind Dayton. The Novice 8 were the last to race and beat Dayton's Novice 8 and George Washington's Novice 8 by 11.95 and 11.07 seconds with a time of 7:21.95
Mason took on Georgetown next, but could not come out on top. The Novice 8 boat was the only one to come out with a win, marking a time of 7:18.52, beating both Georgetown's Novice 8 and Lightweight Novice 8 by 11.07 and 12.40 seconds.
Coach Ellen Gallagher had this to say on the Novices' success this past weekend "The novices were 4-0 on the weekend against some very good competition and more experienced rowers. They are having a lot of fun and really enjoy racing and it shows. We hope to be able to translate that enthusiasm to practices this coming week in preparation for the tough test ahead of us at the GW Invite against the US Naval Academy Novices."
