Kristin Dickel is a Mason standout. A native of North Wales, Pennsylvania, Kristin's softball career began early as she played her first softball game at the age of 5. Following Kristin's junior year of high school, a number of Division III colleges actively pursued her as their top softball prospect. Mason also approached her with the opportunity to play Division I softball. After touring George Mason and meeting the Mason softball coaching staff, Kristin signed a letter of early intent to secure an athletic scholarship and play for Mason. Currently a senior Health and Physical Education major and Psychology minor, Kristin plays first base for the Patriots
Kristin's first year at Mason was Head Coach Joe Verbanic's first season with the Patriots. As a freshman, the team was young and inexperienced. In her four years, Mason softball has made some incredible improvements to bring the program to a highly competitive level.
Off the softball field, Kristin places a huge emphasis on her studies. She is also a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and active in community service with the softball team at Mason. Every year, Kristin has been involved with the annual Aimee Willard Memorial 5k campus with her team as a participant and volunteer. The event honors the memory of the Patriot former student-athlete and race proceeds go to the Aimee Willard Endowment Scholarship Fund. Additionally, Mason softball is a leader in the Mason Student-Athlete Advisory Council's Letters for Kids initiative, serving as mentors for less fortunate children.
After graduation in May, Kristin plans to work at the Mason softball camps. In the fall, she would like to teach physical education to elementary school students. She has also thought about coaching softball and pursuing a career as a guidance counselor.
